Through therapy, expected sufferers can live independent in daily activities.
Several methods of therapy for people with autism are:

Behavioral therapy and communication.
This provides a number of teaching therapy in people with basic capabilities, covering every day, either verbal or nonverbal, include:

• Applied behavior analysis (ABA). Applied behavioral analysis therapy helps sufferers behave positively in all circumstances. This therapy also helps the sufferer to develop his ability to communicate and leave the negative behavior.

• Developmental, individual differences, relationship-based approach (DIR). DIR or commonly called Floortime, focusing on the development of the emotional relationship between autistic children and families.

• Occupational therapy. Occupational therapy encourages sufferers to live independently, by teaching some basic capabilities, such as dressing, eating, bathing, and interact with others.

• Speech therapy. Speech therapy helps sufferers of autism to learn to develop the ability to communicate.

• Treatment and education of autistic and related communication-handicapped children (TEACCH). This therapy uses visual cues like pictures that show the stages of doing something. TEACCH will help a sufferer understand how to perform daily activities, for example, to change clothes.

• The picture exchange communication system (PECS). This therapy also uses visual cues such as TEACCH. But using PECS symbols, to help sufferers learn to communicate and ask questions.

Family therapy
Family-focused therapy helps older people and family of sufferers of autism.  Through this therapy, families will learn how to interact with sufferers and teach the sufferer to speak and behave normally.

Drugs.
Although not able to cure autism, medications can be given to control the symptoms. Antipsychotic drugs, for example, to address behavior problems, drug seizures, anticonvulsants to overcome antidepressant to relieve depression, and melatonin to overcome sleep disorders.

Prevention Of Autism
Even though it is not yet known what caused the autism, doctors will give some suggestions to reduce the risk of your child was born with autism, among others:

• Living healthy life patterns, for example by undergoing the medical examination at regular intervals, consumption of foods with nutrients balanced, and regular exercise.

• avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages during pregnancy.

• as much as possible to avoid the consumption of drugs in pregnancy. When the inevitable, consult first with your doctor.

• make sure you've got the vaccine before getting pregnant, especially vaccine rubella.

• Immediate medical treatment and follow the advice of the doctor when sick, especially when you are diagnosed with celiac disease or Phenylketonuria.
